on

on 的用法頗多。最常用的有四種：

(a) 和「空間」有關，解作「某東西之上」。例如：

    I sat on the beach and watched the sun set.（例一）
    
    Put the things on the table, please.（例二）

(b) 和「時間」有關，用於和 "day" 有關的「時間名詞」前面。例如：

    Susan will be on holiday next week.（例三）
    
    The course will start on 9th [day of] July 2001.（例四）

(c) 和「交通工具」有關。所指的交通工具都是較大型的，須要跨步而上的。例如：

    on the plane（例五）
    
    on the train（例六）

所以成年人說：

    I got on the taxi.（例七）

對當地人來說就有點兒怪，因為成年人坐的士不必跨步而上，只須低頭鑽入車廂就可以了。如果您說 on the taxi，人家就當您爬上車頂了（(a) 的用法）。所以對成年人來說，只能：

    I got in the taxi.（例八）

對小孩子來說 I got on the taxi， 當然文法沒問題啦。

(d) 和「論述」有關。例如：

    I have written a book on romanticism.（例九）
    
    On Liberty（論自由）（例十）

這些用法都是要多用才會記得住的。根據我講的方法，大家多講多寫吧。
